Animal Crossing Player Builds a Working Subway Station on Island

An Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has thought up a rather unique and creative way to build a functional subway station on their island.

A creative Animal Crossing: New Horizons player has managed to build a fully-functioning subway station on their island with an ingenious interactive build. Despite launching back in 2020, the Nintendo hit still has a dedicated fanbase thanks to its many design options and possibilities, which allow for creative builds and recreations in Animal Crossing.

While many still enjoy their island paradise in ACNH, the game has come under fire for a lack of new content. Animal Crossing: New Horizons has stopped receiving major content updates since the release of the version 2.0 update in November 2021, which launched alongside the Happy Home Paradise DLC. While the game still keeps many entertained with its limited-time seasonal events, there isn’t anything big to expect for the title any longer, as Nintendo has confirmed no more new updates for Animal Crossing. While this is a problem for many, the game’s focus on designing and decorating – along with the huge range of items released for ACNH – still provide ways to entertain countless players.

Reddit user and Animal Crossing fan highpcy is one such player who has used the game items to create a clever and unique working subway station (via Game Rant). In the video clip that they posted, their character has just gotten out of school and runs towards what looks like a set of stairs leading down to a subway station, complete with a surrounding fence, a few chairs, and a sign. highpcy has used some elevated land to achieve the look of the subway staircase, even going one step further, and utilizing the warp pipes from ACNH’s Mario update to simulate actually traveling on a subway, with them reappearing at another subway station at another part of their island.

The use of warp pipes is a creative way to make a functional subway station in spite of Animal Crossing’s lack of actual working trains. It’s just one of many examples of Animal Crossing: New Horizons players finding unique ways to build things that normally aren’t available in the game. Many ACNH players also enjoy recreating popular locations from other games, movies, TV shows, and other IPs, some of which can get pretty detailed. One such example of this is an Animal Crossing Harry Potter classroom build, which is inspired by the classes of Hogwarts Schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

While it isn’t exactly a fully-fledged subway station and train system, highpcy’s clever way to bring the means of transport to their Animal Crossing island demonstrates just how creative fans can get in the game. Despite the fact ACNH likely won’t ever get a real working railway or subway station, the build serves to show just what’s possible when it comes to designing functional in-game builds.
