Apex Legends Heirloom Guide – How to Get Valkyrie’s Heirloom

Apex Legends Heirloom Guide - How to Get Valkyrie's Heirloom

The next event for Apex Legends has been revealed and it’s all about giant monsters, mechs, and futuristic heroes. Dubbed “Awakening,” this is not the anime-focused event a lot of players assumed was coming next week. Instead, this event revolves around tie-ins to various franchises like Pacific Rim, Godzilla, King Kong, Ultraman, and Power Rangers. Along with all these awesome cosmetics is the next heirloom which belongs to everyone’s favorite flyer, Valkyrie. One of the best-looking heirlooms in the game, here’s how to unlock this melee weapon so you can start stabbing enemies left and right.

(Author’s Note: At the time of writing, the Awakening Event has not gone live. However, the method for obtaining an heirloom has changed since they’ve been introduced, and it’s extremely unlikely that Respawn will alter how you acquire them.)

How to Get Valkyrie’s Heirloom

Sadly, there are only a couple of methods for earning heirlooms in Apex Legends. The first is during the Awakening Collection Event, which requires you to purchase every single cosmetic item in the event tab via the Awakening Event Packs. Each pack guarantees you only one cosmetic from the event; however, you will never receive a duplicate. There’s also a higher chance to receive base legendary tier items. This means you will need to purchase a total of 24 event loot boxes to unlock his heirloom. You can only buy Event Packs in either groups of 10 for 7,000 Apex Coins or individually for 700 Apex Coins each.

Breaking down the numbers, you’ll need to buy $160 in Apex Coins just to have enough to buy all of the Event Packs. This assumes you bought two sets of ten and then the last four by themselves for 700 Coins each. You can reduce this price a little by purchasing the bundles in the Warriors event store, but it won’t save you much. Typically, the store is mainly for those who only want to buy specific, popular legend skins rather than the entire suite. If you don’t want to buy all of these loot boxes, then you’re going to have to go with the second option, which is to open up enough Apex Packs until you earn Heirloom Shards.

Even though Heirloom Shards are apparently guaranteed after 500 Apex Packs, you also have a very tiny chance for this exceptionally rare currency to drop before hitting that 500 Apex Pack threshold. If you do have Heirloom Shards, you’ll need to wait until the Awakening Event is over to purchase this spear. Then just navigate to the Mythics tab in the Store page and select the spear to purchase it. Once you buy the heirloom, you just need to go to Valkyrie and equip it by checking the box in the bottom right corner.

Along with cosmetics and heirloom, the popular game mode Control is a making a return. Coming to World’s Edge, players will get to battle it out in Lava Station with each of the points located in the three different bases. This will make for some chaotic moments — especially since this location has a done of cover, structures, lava, and moving gondolas. Lifeline is also getting a new Town Takeover on Olympus called Lifeline’s Clinic. This large building features a rather large ring in the middle that heals anyone who walks into it as if they were attached to her drone.
