Big Brother Canada Season 10 Cast Announced: Meet 16 New Houseguests

Big Brother Canada reveals the bios of season 10’s houseguests competing for $100,000. Viewers can start watching the 16 contestants on March 2.

Big Brother Canada season 10 has released profiles of the 16 houseguests competing for $100,000 and additional prizes. Viewers tuning into the finale of Celebrity Big Brother season 3 on February 23 got a sneak peek at some contestants during a commercial break, with the full cast list revealed after Meisha Tate, Todrick Hall and Cynthia Bailey left the house. As one of the more popular international versions of Big Brother, BBCAN has been airing since 2013 after a slight hiatus in between seasons 5 and 6. Like the U.S. version, live feeds follow the houseguests 24/7 as they compete for Head of Household and the Power of Veto; several former houseguests returned for a second shot on BBCAN 5, while BBCAN 4 members Nikki Grahame and Tim Dormer previously starred on Big Brother UK and Big Brother Australia, respectively.

Big Brother Canada season 10 was announced last summer; the news came shortly after Tychon Carter-Newman became the first Black houseguest to win with BBCAN 9. Like America’s Big Brother, there have been several questionable casting choices that executive producer and host Arisa Cox has strived to improve. Jamar Lee and Kyle Rozendal, for example, were removed from BBCAN 8 just before the season ended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Global cast 22-year-old Ethan Quince for BBCAN 9 the following year before quickly replacing him after sexual and racial allegations surfaced. Other memorable contestants include BBCAN 1’s Tom Plan, who exposed Alec Beall, and BBCAN 2’s Ika Wong, who shredded the houseguest’s letters from home for $5,000.

The newest set of houseguests, who have individual bios uploaded on Big Brother Canada’s website, are based across the country, though a majority are from Ontario. Four players live in British Columbia, and two reside in Quebec. 31-year-old Betty Yirsaw is the sole contestant from Alberta, while 43-year-old Martin “Marty” Frenette is the only Big Brother contestant representing New Brunswick. Most of the BBCAN cast are in their mid to late 20’s; Marty is the oldest, followed by 35-year-old Jessica Gowling and 32-year-old Tynisha White. Many creative minds are set to enter the BB house, including artist Melina Mansing, content creator Moose Bendago, social media manager Jacey-Lynne Graham and unemployed Summer Sayles. Additional houseguests include firefighter Steven “Gino” Giannopoulos, auto sales manager Hermon Nizghi, sales engineer Kevin Jacobs and youth worker Stephanie Paterson.

An emerging Big Brother fan-favorite is already 23-year-old Kyle Moore; as the youngest competitor, the Nova Scotian podcaster first hit the BBCAN scene after being confused with season 9’s Kyle Moore—while they share the same name, the contestants are indeed two different people. “When a bunch of BBCAN fans thought I was Kyle from BBCAN9, I played into it and went along with the narrative,” incoming Kyle’s bio explains; there’s no doubt that the humorous situation will be addressed on the live feeds. Other contestants with interesting tidbits include Betty, who once traveled to Las Vegas on a first date; Haleena Gill, who has a Harry Potter-esque scar from shark cage diving in South Africa; Jay Northcott, who can walk on their hands; and Josh Nah, who has 11 siblings.

First-look photos of the BBCAN 10 house have viewers excited for what’s to come, especially as the building and decor drastically differ from its American counterpart. Three pictures were shared on February 22; showcased are the brightly lit kitchen, colorful dining room and a mysterious room with question marks placed inside. With only one week to go until the cameras turn on, fans are interested to see what entertainment and eventual drama will stir up.
