The Exotic Fusion Rifle Jotunn received a brand new catalyst in Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted. Here is how to get the weapon upgrade.
Season of the Haunted in Destiny 2 has kicked off with a bang, introducing special weapons and armor while also adding a brand new catalyst for Jotunn. Along with the new story in Destiny 2, fans see the return of some of the best-designed armaments from Season of Opulence. Players may stumble upon the new counterpart to everyone’s favorite toaster, but those that wish to know for certain how to acquire and level up the Jotunn catalyst can go to specific locations.
For Guardians that don’t know, Bungie actually has a way in-game to check where specific items drop. By going to the Triumphs tab and selecting Patterns & Catalysts, fans can search for the acquisition of enhancements for any Exotic, not just Jotunn. The desired Fusion Rifle is on the last page of the Energy Weapons section. The Jotunn catalyst can be dropped from playlist activities and can be completed on any difficulty of Vanguard, Crucible, or Gambit in Destiny 2. Once earned, there is one more step for players before gaining the benefits.

After equipping the catalyst, Guardians are given the task of defeating 500 foes with Jotunn to masterwork the weapon. This can be done simply by playing the game, but a few notable locations make the objective easier. The beginning of the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon spawns many Hive enemies in the cave. The fiery explosions created by Jotunn can make quick work of these foes. Alternatively, players can travel to the Moon and complete the Altars of Sorrow, as waves of enemies spawn throughout the activity. The new seasonal Public Event, Nightmare Containment, is also great for defeating adversaries. However, players may need to compete with other Guardians on the Derelict Leviathan. Once completed, the weapon will gain the new fantastic perk in Destiny 2.
How The Jotunn Catalyst Perk Works In Destiny 2
The Jotunn Catalyst comes with two different effects. The first is called Cornered, which grants faster charge time and draws the time when surrounded by two or more enemies. Like the Surrounded Trait, this buff lingers slightly for one to two seconds after the enemies are out of range. The second perk is called Incandescent and spreads Scorch to nearby foes after defeating a target. Again, enemy Guardians and powerful foes create a larger area of effect. Scorch is a new ability added in the Solar 3.0 rework and will deal damage over time to targets. Applying the effect again adds a stack, causing a Solar explosion at 100, called Ignite.
Jotunn was already a powerhouse when it came to Exotic Solar Fusion Rifles in Destiny 2. Besides being a bit of a joke, since it looks like a toaster, the weapon has been utilized significantly in PvP and PvE. Compared to other catalysts, the Jotunn’s upgrade is rather easy to complete and adds to the destructive power. Guardians may welcome an ally with this weapon, but enemies in the Crucible should beware of this portable box of Solar explosions.
