With the latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet recently released, Game Freak has introduced the world to a few more new Pokémon, and some are good eats. Edible Pokémon are nothing new to the franchise, and have been present for some time in both the games and the anime. Some Pokémon are eaten by humans, while others help make food in some way.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet releases on November 18 this year. It has been rumored that over 100 new Pokémon will be included in the newest game of the franchise. So far, 15 brand-new Pokémon have been announced, along with Scarlet and Violet regional variants of existing Pokémon.

With over 900 Pokémon currently in the National Pokédex who live alongside people in both the games and the anime, there are bound to be some Pokémon that are edible or used for food in one way or another. So far, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, at least three of the newest Pokémon are in some way edible, and this does not include the existing confirmed Pokémon returning for this game.

The Newest Scarlet And Violet Pokémon Look Delicious

Pokemon Scarlet Violet Klawf

One of the latest Pokémon announced in the newest Scarlet and Violet trailer is Klawf, a giant crab-like Pokémon. According to the official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game information, “Klawf claws are considered a valuable cooking ingredient.” This is not the first instance of a crab-like Pokémon being consumed – in the anime Ash asks Professor Oak if he’s eaten the Krabby Ash caught previously. Klawf isn’t the only edible Pokémon in the Pokédex either. Fidough’s breath produces yeast which is used for cooking. While Smoliv’s oil is said to be not consumable, it is noted that Smoliv does have a fruit on its head; whether people eat it is yet to be seen. Beloved pig Pokémon Lechonk has not been confirmed as edible; however, its description is not unlike that of the black Ibérico pig that is used for Ibérico ham.

Joining the newest edible Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet are some old edible favorites from previous games, and this is not limited to creatures that are considered prey by Pokémon who eat other Pokémon. Slowpoke has been confirmed for the game, and it is said that their tails are a delicacy. Magikarp will also make an appearance, and while not nutritious, Team Rocket along with Ash, Brock, and Misty have discussed eating one before. Crabrawler will join Klawf in the edible crab category as well. Combee, who produces honey, and Blissey and Chansey, who produce edible eggs, will also be present.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s addition of multiple edible Pokémon is very likely no coincidence. One of the three main storylines in the game has the player helping Arven, an upperclassman, out with finding rare cooking ingredients. He will be asking the player for help as he is apparently a better cook than he is a Pokémon trainer. Whether or not players will be catching their next meal is still unknown.
