Every Upcoming Taylor Sheridan TV Show

Taylor Sheridan has several upcoming television shows that collectively comprise the “Sheridan-verse,” the director’s shared universe and Paramount Network’s golden ticket to the Western, Neo-Western, and crime genres. Despite how it’s been described as the show’s slowest season, the Yellowstone season 4 finale brought 9.3 million viewers to Paramount+. Meanwhile, the Yellowstone prequel 1883 netted over 6 million viewers during its streaming debut. As the events of the Yellowstone pilot come full circle in the 1883 season 1 finale, Taylor Sheridan’s shared universe is opening up to even more Yellowstone spinoffs in the horizon.

Notably, the upcoming prequel 1932 has been officially changed to 1923 and includes heavyweights Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in its cast. Meanwhile, Louisana country musician Lainey has confirmed that she will be joining the cast of Yellowstone season 5 as a musician named Abby. However, Taylor Sheridan isn’t just focusing on stories about the Dutton family. Sheridan is also making a mafia drama starring Sylvester Stallone called Tulsa King, which will stream on the same day as Yellowstone season 5.

Taylor Sheridan is certainly keeping himself busy. Paramount seems to be well aware that they have a good thing going on and are throwing their full support behind the continued expansion the Sheridan-verse. Here’s everything that’s been revealed about all of Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming television projects.

Yellowstone Season 5

yellowstone season 5 premiere date announced

It’s unclear whether or not Yellowstone season 5 will be the final installment in the series, though the land quarrel between the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, and Market Equities seems to be coming to a head. Moreover, unlike previous seasons which had 10 episodes each, Yellowstone season 5 will be divided into two parts for a total of 14 episodes, which also suggests finality. In any case, Yellowstone season 5 is slated for release on November 13, 2022.

Tulsa King

First Look At Sylvester Stallone in Tulsa King

In Tulsa King, Taylor Sheridan brings in another major film star in Sylvester Stallone, who’s been cast in the role of a violent East Coast mobster exiled to Oklahoma for his past and ordered to reestablish his organization’s presence in the city. However, Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi knows that his “family” actually doesn’t have his best interests in mind, so Dwight begins building his own empire instead. Alongside Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King was co-created by Terence Winter, one of the main writers of the Sopranos timeline.

Releasing on the same day as Yellowstone season 5, Tulsa King’s first two episodes will be available on Paramount+ on November 13, 2022. Joining Sly Stallone in the Tulsa King cast are Domenick Lombardozzi, Max Casella, Jay Will, Vincent Piazza, and A.C. Peterson in yet-undisclosed roles, while Martin Starr will be playing Bodhi, the owner of the Higher Plane Marijuana Dispensary. Though Tulsa King still falls in the crime genre, Taylor Sheridan seems to be trying new things with this project.

1923 – Prequel to Yellowstone, Sequel to 1883

1923 title change for yellowstone spinoff with harrison ford and helen mirren

The culmination of Taylor Sheridan’s pivotal work in contemporary Westerns and Neo-Westerns, 1923 will reveal how the Duttons’ next two generations – following 1883 – have fared in the early 20th century. Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren will undoubtedly be well utilized in fleshing out how the Duttons carved the beautiful but inhospitable Montana frontier into the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the country. The reason why 1932 was changed to 1923 is because the story will also focus on the effects of the Prohibition era, and in 1926, Montana became the first state in the union to repeal Prohibition. 1923 will also be about the Great Depression, as well as the end of World War I, which are also part of why the year was pushed back almost a decade. Currently, Taylor Sheridan is targeting a December 2022 release for the new Yellowstone prequel.

1883: The Bass Reeves Story

Bass Reeves explained for 1883 season 2

1883: The Bass Reeves Story is an 1883 spinoff starring David Oleyowo in the titular role of the “greatest frontier hero in American history,” a federal peace officer who worked in Indigenous American territory and captured over 3,000 outlaws without ever getting shot. Taylor Sheridan will be directing the first two episodes of the six-part miniseries, which is based on the real story of U.S. Deputy Marshall Bass Reeves. Apart from being the first Black man to serve in the group of 200 federal marshals assigned to Indigenous American territories during the post-Reconstruction era, Reeves was a family man with 10 children, who spent his final days working for the police department in Muskogee, Oklahoma until his death in 1910.

As one of the few federal marshals able to speak Indigenous languages, Reeves became crucial to post-Reconstruction efforts. Bass Reeves’ real-life exploits served as the inspiration for the Lone Ranger, the fictional legendary vigilante who became popular as a radio, film, and television character throughout the 20th century. Though no official release date has been announced, 1883: The Bass Reeves Story is expected to stream sometime in 2023.

6666

Yellowstone-6666-Four-Sixes-Ranch-news-updates-real-story-details

While its release window is likely far into the horizon, 6666 – or Four Sixes – is officially happening. Yellowstone spinoff 6666 will be focused on the massive Four Sixes ranch, the legendary Texas ranch that turned Jimmy into a cowboy in Yellowstone season 4. Encompassing nearly 225 square miles of land, the real Four Sixes ranch was acquired by Taylor Sheridan in 2022 for a reported $192 million. In Yellowstone, Sheridan plays the role of Travis, the Four Sixes’ liaison to the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. However, it’s unclear whether or not Jimmy or Travis will be featured in 6666. For now, details about the plot are sparse, although Paramount has revealed that 6666 will tell the history of the Four Sixes ranch, which was founded back when West Texas was still ruled by the Comanches. The Four Sixes ranch encompasses an entire county, continues to operate as it did two centuries prior, and is focused on a singular goal: raise the finest livestock and horses on the planet. No wonder it was the only place that could actually turn Jimmy into a competent cowboy.

Land Man

Billy Bob Thornton in Goliath.

While the factions in Yellowstone laid the groundwork for tackling land disputes in Montana, Taylor Sheridan dives deeper into geopolitics with Land Man, which starts Billy Bob Thornton as a crisis manager for an oil company. Set to begin production in 2023, Land Man will tell the tales of roughnecks and billionaires alike – oil-rig fortune seekers that are reshaping not just the economy, but the very climate itself. Based on the podcast Boomtown, which covers Texas’ multi-billion dollar oil industry, Land Man promises to be a wild political ride.

Lioness

Taylor Sheridan’s Lioness is about a marine who gets recruited by the CIA to infiltrate and take down a terrorist group. Lioness stars Laysla De Oliveira as Cruz Manuelos, the marine, and Guardians of the Galaxy’s Zoe Saldana as Joe, the station chief of the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team. Joe is tasked with training Cruz and other female operatives in the skills necessary to complete their undercover missions – reminiscent of the feminist premise of Black Widow. Lioness is still under development, and likely won’t see release until late 2023 or 2024.
