George Clooney's New Movie Casts Cobra Kai Star

Cobra Kai’s Courtney Henggeler joins the cast of director George Clooney’s next film, The Boys in the Boat, a true story about an Olympic rowing team.

George Clooney’s next directorial effort, The Boys in the Boat, adds Cobra Kai’s Courtney Henggeler to the cast. Many know Clooney for his acting career, but he’s also become a prolific director, helming films like The Tender Bar, The Midnight Sky, and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. The Boys in the Boat, which Clooney also produces, is based on a book of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Daniel James Brown. The story is set during the 1930s, telling the underdog story of the University of Washington’s rowing team as they overcome adversity to win a gold medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

As reported by Deadline, Henggeler is joining the cast of The Boys in the Boat, which also includes Joel Edgerton, Callum Turner, Sam Strike, and Hadley Robinson. Henggeler is set to play the role of Hazel Ulbrickson, the wife of the rowing team’s coach, played by Edgerton. However, Henggeler’s role will likely be a side character despite her growing resume over the years.

Henggeler currently stars in Netflix’s Cobra Kai as Amanda LaRusso, the wife and business partner of Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso. Many audiences may also recognize Henggeler from The Big Bang Theory, where she played Sheldon’s twins sister Missy. Aside from other acting roles in shows like Mom and Jane the Virgin, Henggeler recently wrote and executive produced her first film, The Secret Life of a Celebrity Surrogate, for Lifetime. Now, with The Boys in the Boat, she will help to tell an inspirational true story, which Clooney excels at from the director’s chair. Further details on The Boys in the Boat will become available as the project develops.
