Gotham Knights Gets October Release Date

Following a delay into 2022 almost a full calendar year ago, Gotham Knights has a new release date.

Developer WB Montreal announced the Bat Family cooperative action game will now be out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S on October 25. Gotham Knights was first teased back in 2019 before being properly unveiled during the DC Fandome event in 2020. It was originally set to launch in 2021 before the delay last year, but it looks like WB Montreal has its eyes set on this year.

Gotham Knights stars Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood in a four-player co-op story about the group maintaining Gotham City after the death of Batman. Though WB Montreal developed Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to those games released in 2013, it won’t be a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series. The upcoming Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League game by Rocksteady will pick up that continuity, however.

Between Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, DC seems to be leaning hard into the cooperative beat-em-up style when it comes to video games. But it would also be nice if the company would invest in a third Injustice game sometime soon. Hint hint. Please and thank you.

Beyond video games, the biggest development in DC Comics right now is The Batman. The Robert Pattison-led movie came to theaters last week, and the reaction to it has been pretty positive, likely thanks to it being able to detach itself from the DCEU and all its failings with the character. Personally, I just enjoyed seeing a superhero movie where the action wasn’t a CG glob and was literally just Pattison wailing on dudes.
