Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Set Images Offer First Look At Returning Cast

Brand new images from the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 offer the first look at Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista in their costumes.

New Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 set images offer the first look at Pom Klementieff and Dave Bautista’s return as Mantis and Drax. Production for the upcoming James Gunn MCU film has been in full swing for a while now. While nothing much is known about the project that’s set to roll out in May 2023 thus far, fresh photos reveal fans’ first sighting of some of the returning cast.

The story for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has long been locked in, as well as its highly anticipated soundtrack — even before Gunn’s brief firing and rehiring. But, plot details have been scant, with Marvel Studios being very careful about what is revealed about the film. Will Poulter has been cast as Adam Warlock, while Chukwudi Iwuji has also been confirmed to join the project in an unknown role. The next Guardians of the Galaxy adventure will also be set after  Avengers: Endgame, meaning 2014’s Gamora (Zoe Saldana) will be an integral plot line in the film.

Now, fans are offered their first look at Mantis and Drax for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, thanks to set images from Daily Mail UK. Klementieff is all dolled up as her alien character, complete with her signature antennas. Meanwhile, Bautista is painted up, although he’s wearing a cape and what appears as a puffer jacket as he walks inside the Atlanta sound stage that they have been working in. Bautista has been open about Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 being his final MCU film. The former pro-wrestler believes that he’s getting too old for the part that demands him to be shirtless all of the time. Gunn has also talked about the threequel ending the road for the original Guardians of the Galaxy team. It’s currently uncertain what exactly this entails in terms of the movie’s narrative, but fans can expect a big death or two in it. Certain lingering plot lines will also most likely be resolved, including Rocket Raccoon’s (voiced by Bradley Cooper) mysterious origin story. There’s been no word yet, however, about how this will be resolved.

In any case, fans should expect an emotional Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn has done a great job making sure that the first two films were heartfelt, and considering that the threequel will wrap up the journey for some of the members of the beloved team, it makes sense that it would be more poignant. Before starring in the film, however, viewers can catch up with the cosmic gang in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder.

She has a soft spot for procedurals and old sitcoms (The Golden Girls!) but won’t dare watch any horror films although she’s (ironically) dying to see one.
