How To Get The Hero’s Burden SMG (& God Roll)

How To Get The Hero's Burden SMG (& God Roll)

The Hero’s Burden is one of the reworked weapons that has been re-released in Destiny 2, thus giving the SMG new perks and a new god roll.

The Hero’s Burden has returned in Destiny 2 with a complete rework that has changed some of the perks available for the weapon’s god roll. The Hero’s Burden is an Adaptive Frame SMG that deals Void damage, and it may be one of the most accurate weapons that can be used in PvP activities. Void SMGs have a lot of completion, particularly with the likes of Funnelweb, Unforgiven, The Title, Shayura’s Wrath, and now The Hero’s Burden all taking up the same slots. However, what separates The Hero’s Burden from the rest of these weapons is its frame, as the other options have either Lightweight, Precision, or Aggressive Frames.

Unfortunately, another thing that The Hero’s Burden has in common with all of these Void SMGs is that the weapon cannot be crafted in Destiny 2. Only a few SMGs actually have the capability of being crafted, and because The Hero’s Burden is not one of them it may be more difficult to acquire the god roll. Nonetheless, this particular SMG may be the best of the options available for PvP use.

The Hero’s Burden is a weapon that can only be obtained through Iron Banner, which means it will be temporarily available for only a couple of weeks during the Season of the Haunted. Guardians will either have to complete matches of Iron Banner to unlock the reworked weapon or randomly acquire it by decoding Iron Banner engrams with Master Rahool. Additionally, like the reworked Wizened Rebuke Fusion Rifle in Destiny 2, more rolls of The Hero’s Burden can also be obtained by focusing the Iron Banner engrams with Lord Saladin. However, this last option can only be done if the SMG has been acquired by either of the former methods first because it needs to be part of the unlocked collection of weapons.

The Best Perks For The Hero's Burden In Destiny 2

The best barrel and magazine perks to use on The Hero’s Burden are those that build off of its frame’s strengths. The Hammer-Forged Rifling barrel will increase the range of the weapon without providing any negative effects, and Smallbore is another great option if Guardians favor stability and range increases. Likewise, Ricochet Rounds are the absolute best perk for the magazine option because they further increase the range and stability of The Hero’s Burden. This will make the weapon incredibly stable for all Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities in Destiny 2, including further Iron Banner matches and Trials of Osiris rounds. Additionally, these perk combinations should be sought after as well:

1. Fragile Focus/Kill Clip – This is the god roll for The Hero’s Burden, and particularly works well in PvP.2. Well-rounded/Kill Clip – This perk combination is a close second, though it requires a bit more direct activation with Well-Rounded.3. Zen Movement/Kill Clip – Causing damage with this weapon will make it more stable, increasing the chances of being able to win fights and activate Kill Clip.
