Pokémon GO: Best Tapu Koko Raid Counters

Tapu Koko has begun to appear in five-star raid battles in Pokémon GO. The best raid counters will be either Ground- or Poison-type Pokémon.

Tapu Koko is appearing in five-star raid battles in Pokémon GO. The best raid counters will quickly take down this Pokémon by using its weaknesses against it. After the conclusion of the Pokémon GO Johto Tour, Niantic released the first handful of Alola Pokémon to the wild. It’s now possible for trainers to capture Rowlet, Popplio, and Litten in the game. Many were confused when creatures from Galar were added to the game before Alola since Pokémon Sun and Moon were released years before Pokémon Sword and Shield. Now that they are finally in Pokémon GO, though, the first guardian deity of the Alola region is available for capture through raid battles.

Tapu Koko will only appear in five-star raid battles in Pokémon GO until March 15, 2022, at 10 am local time. Fortunately, Niantic is hosting two Raid Hour events before it’s removed from the game to be replaced with another Pokémon. These Raid Hours will make it so every Gym has an active legendary raid battle for a full hour. Regardless, trainers will need to use a raid pass in order to participate. Fortunately, trainers can grab a Remote Raid Pass in Pokémon GO from the shop every week for a single Poké Coin.

Since Tapu Koko is an Electric- and Fairy-type Pokémon, it has weaknesses in Poison- and Ground-type attacks. It will resist Fighting, Dragon, Flying, Bug, Electric, and Dark attacks so players should make sure to avoid bringing these. Since this is a five-star raid battle, it’s recommended for at least five trainers to be active in the raid lobby. Otherwise, Tapu Koko might be too difficult to defeat.

While it hasn’t been confirmed when the other guardian deity Pokémon will be available in Pokémon GO, they will likely release in the upcoming months. There are four guardians in total, each one protecting a different island of Sun and Moon’s Alola region. This event also introduced Shiny Rockruff and Shiny Gumshoes to the game. Normally, the Shiny forms are added at a later date, separate from the original version. This time, either of these two Pokémon can be Shiny right from the jump. Unfortunately, Tapu Koko does not have its Shiny form in the game. This will also likely be added during a future event.
