Rob Zombie’s Munsters Wraps Filming With Catherine Schell In BTS Image

Director Rob Zombie releases a new behind-the-scenes image from The Munsters reboot, confirming veteran actor Catherine Schell has wrapped filming.

Rob Zombie confirms Catherine Schell has wrapped filming on his reboot of The Munsters with a new behind-the-scenes image. Schell plays Zoya Krupp in Zombie’s movie and is just one of many new characters being introduced to the franchise. Several new characters have been revealed since production began, including Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang (Richard Blake), Floop (Jorge Garcia), Barbara Carr (Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson), and Igor (Sylvester McCoy). Zombie’s frequent collaborators Jeff Daniel Phillips, Sheri Moon Zombie, and Daniel Roebuck are playing Herman, Lily, and Grandpa in the reboot.

Schell was very active in the ’70s and ’80s, appearing in projects like On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Doctor Who, and The Return of the Pink Panther, but she officially retired from acting in 1996. It’s unknown how Zombie convinced her to come out of retirement for The Munsters, yet Zoya Krupp will be a monumental role for Schell as this is her first acting gig in nearly 30 years. Zombie revealed the first look at Zoya Krupp when he announced her casting in early 2022. Other than this, very little is known about Schell’s character.

As filming continues on The Munsters, Zombie confirms that Schell has wrapped her scenes on the reboot. The director shared a new behind-the-scenes image of Schell in costume as Zoya Krupp to celebrate her filming wrap, welcoming her to the “world of Gods and Munsters.” Zombie’s original post can be seen below:

Even though Munsters fans still don’t know exactly who Zoya Krupp is, Schell should bring something special to the movie given her experience in the business. Zombie getting her out of retirement also goes to show how passionate he is about this project. Many were concerned when Zombie announced he was helming a Munsters reboot. After all, The Munsters is a classic family-friendly horror sitcom, which is almost the exact opposite of Zombie’s previous work. Worries have seemed to dissipate as Zombie reveals more about his movie, including a PG rating.

This image is just the latest of many Munsters behind-the-scenes looks Zombie has given of his movie. Zombie has kept anticipation high by consistently keeping fans updated. At the end of last month, McCoy wrapped his filming as Igor, and now with Schell finishing as well, production on The Munsters could soon be coming to a close. The reboot is expected to release on Peacock this Fall, so once the main cast members finish filming, Universal will be working toward releasing the first trailer for The Munsters or some other type of official first look to promote Zombie’s movie.
