Robert Englund Reveals How Many Episodes He’s In

A Nightmare on Elm Street actor Robert Englund gives an update on Stranger Things season 4, revealing how many episodes he will appear in.

Robert Englund indicates that he is only in one episode of Stranger Things season 4. The next season takes place six months after the events of the Battle of Starcourt and will separate the main cast into four different groups. The upcoming season is supposed to be the darkest and longest addition to the series yet, which will partly revolve around Hopper escaping Russia and Eleven dealing with losing her powers after moving away with the Byers family. Stranger Things season 4 is being cut into two volumes, with part one premiering on May 27, 2022 and part two on July 1, 2022.

Season 4 is of course bringing back David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, and the other key cast members. However, like past seasons, Stranger Things is set to include new faces when it returns in May, including Jamie Campbell Bower (Sweeney Todd) and Robert Englund, who is most known for playing Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Englund was cast back in November 2020 as Victor Creel, who is described as “a disturbed and intimidating man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.” The younger version of Creel, played by Kevin L. Johnson, was revealed in an eerie trailer last September, but it hasn’t been revealed how big of a role Englund will play in the series.

Now, in an interview with Gibson TV, Englund gave a little insight into his work on Stranger Things when asked about his upcoming projects. The Freddy Krueger actor revealed why the season is taking longer than usual, citing the pandemic and the actors’ busy schedules, before stating that he has already filmed his episode. Englund’s full quote can be read below:

Well I’m waiting for season 4 of Stranger Things. But because of covid, and the pandemic, and the fact that all the kids and David Harbour and everyone on that show is a star now, they’re a little behind. But I’ve shot my episode, so I’m looking forward to that because I’m a fan of the show.

With Stranger Things clearly influenced by the pop culture of the ’80s, scoring Englund is a big win for the series. Englund has proven to play a menacing villain thanks to the Nightmare on Elm Street series and other horror projects, so he will likely make a great addition to the cast. Also, the “haunted house” storyline will provide a different twist to the series, and Englund being a fan himself is also a good sign for season 4.

While Englund says he’s filmed his episode, it’s possible Netflix could use the footage for multiple episodes throughout the season. Englund will be a fun addition for horror fans, but based on his comment, it unfortunately doesn’t seem like he will have much screen time. That being said, the Creel Murders seem to be connected to the Upside Down, so it’s possible he could have a larger role in the next season. Stranger Things season 5 will be the final season of the Netflix hit, so the Duffer Brothers need to start laying the groundwork for the show’s conclusion. Hopefully, Englund plays a larger role in that storyline.
