RPDR: Why Trixie Mattel Would Never Compete Again

Despite winning RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars, Trixie Mattel vows she would never compete again. Here is why the former winner would never return.

Trixie Mattel admitted that they have no plans on returning to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race. During season 7 of the competition series, fans were introduced to then-24-year-old Trixie. She hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and was eliminated in episode 4, but earned reentry into the competition during episode 8. Before being eliminated once again in episode 10, overall, she placed sixth in the competition.

When the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars season 3 was announced, Trixie was among the 10 queens who returned to compete, this time winning the competition. After competing in Drag Race, Trixie has gained so much success. She has starred in shows such as American Horror Story: Roanoke, Super Drags, has been featured as a judge on The Boulet Brother’s Dragula, and Queen of The Universe. Despite the success after competing on Drag Race, Trixie revealed she has no interest in returning as a competitor on the popular series.

When talking about the All-Winner’s season of All-Stars that is currently airing on Paramount+, Trixie revealed she was asked to compete, but ultimately declined the offer. According to Insider, they did invite Trixie to return for All-Winners, with the former Drag Race star admitting that producers said, “Hey, we’re doing “All Winners,” we know you don’t want to do it, but we wanted you to know that we always think [of you] if you wanted to do the opportunity.” However, Trixie said “no” to the offer.

After making the transition from contestant to judge on the Paramount+ series, Queen Of The Universe, Trixie stated that she would return to the show if it was in some sort of judging capacity. Trixie revealed that she would love to somehow incorporate a challenge based off of her new Discovery+ show, Trixie Motel, and would love to judge the girls on that type of challenge. Despite never wanting to compete again, it seems like Trixie loves the role of a judge and would never turn down the chance to be a guest judge on Drag Race if the opportunity ever presented itself.

Even though she won’t compete on Drag Race again, Trixie remains one of the many fan favorites on the show. Although she is adamant that she wouldn’t compete again, she never ruled out the possibility of returning as a Drag Race guest judge. However, with the success that Trixie has right now, it is unlikely that will happen anytime soon. If fans miss having Trixie on their screens, they can catch her on Trixie Motel streaming on Discovery+ and as a judge for Queen Of The Universe season 2 when it premieres later this year on Paramount+. Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race may be upset that she would never compete again, but that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t support her in her other ventures.
