Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5-series could include a ‘Pro’ model with a massive battery. This would fix a major complaint about the Galaxy Watch 4.
Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 5-series will reportedly have a ‘Pro’ model will a massive battery. The Galaxy Watch 5-series will be the successor to last year’s Galaxy Watch 4 lineup, which marked Samsung’s return to Wear OS after the company ditched it several years earlier in favor of Tizen. It promises to bring some significant improvements over the current models, including new sensors, bigger batteries and more.
Recent leaks seemingly revealed that the Galaxy Watch 5 devices could come with thermometers to measure body temperature. Rumors have also suggested that the 40 and 44-inch models of the Galaxy Watch 5 could sport larger batteries than their Galaxy Watch 4 counterparts. The latest report indicates that the Galaxy Watch 5 ‘Pro’ might get an even bigger battery than the non-Pro models.

The latest rumor about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 5-series suggests that it will include a ‘Pro’ model, possibly with more features and functionality than the standard models. What’s more, the device could sport a much bigger battery than what was seen on even the most premium model in the Galaxy Watch 4 lineup. According to a listing in a South Korean database, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro will ship with a massive 572mAh battery. The listing was spotted by SamMobile, which speculates that the nearly 60 percent increase in battery capacity could result in a slightly bulkier watch compared to the current models. There are no additional details on the subject at this point, but more information will likely become available closer to the Galaxy Watch 5’s release date.
Bigger Batteries In All Galaxy Watch 5 Models?
It is worth noting that separate reports from earlier this year suggested that the regular Galaxy Watch 5 models could ship with 397mAh and 276 mAh battery capacities. To put that into context, the 44mm Galaxy Watch 4 comes with a 361mAh cell, while the smaller 40mm version has a 247mAh battery. So, if all the leaks are anything to go by, Samsung is looking to fix one of the only major complaints users have with the Galaxy Watch 4 devices — battery life.
The increased battery capacities in the Galaxy Watch 5 devices should be good news for users, especially those who use battery-intensive features like the always-on display, GPS tracking, etc. However, it might not be the only change in the next-gen Galaxy Watch lineup. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5-series will also likely run the latest version of Google’s Wear OS with exclusive features and enhanced health tracking, making it one of the leading competitors against Apple’s Watch Series 8.
