Star Wars Bounty Hunters, Ranked Least To Most Evil

Split imge of Cad Bane and Din Djarin

The next Star Wars series on the slate are Andor and The Bad Batch, two show that will tackle the morally gray nature of the Galaxy, specifically during the time of the Empire. No groups of characters operate more in that area than scoundrels and bounty hunters, the latter of which has been thriving in Star Wars recently, but who also swing like a pendulum between good and evil.

A select few bounty hunters have genuinely good hearts deep, deep down, and/or are honorable individuals. Others, though, are pretty despicable, evil enough to have no limits as long as the credits are there.

10 Din Djarin

The Mandalorian - Din and Grogu Eating Soup

Din Djarin, the central character of The Mandalorian, may well be the most universally loved main character in Star Wars since Obi-Wan in the prequels. While complex in his code and history, Din is far from evil.

Does Din perform bounties and take some lives in the process? Absolutely. However, fans have never seen him taking out innocent civilians outside the bounty. Despite his cold, perhaps unapproachable demeanor, he is usually pretty honorable and respectable to those around him. It is hard to label anyone who does what Din does for Grogu, or any child for that matter, evil.

9 Asajj Ventress

Asajj Ventrss wields a yellow lightsaber in Dark Disciple

At a time, Asajj Ventress is undoubtedly an evil individual, led by the dark side and following its teachings to become a being of hate and anger. However, she did her best to redeem herself, and ended up being one of Star Wars’ most sympathetic villains.

One need only look at the arc in which fans see her become a bounty hunter. She saves the innocent girl (the bounty) and takes the money, splitting it between the crew even though she could have just stolen it. Her story showcases a character who was not evil deep down but traumatized and misled. In the must-read Dark Disciple novel, she gives her life for a good cause and to save others, far from evil.

8 Embo

Embo in Star Wars Clone Wars

One of the best and most underrated bounty hunters in Star Wars is Embo, a Kyuzo who looks like a total badass and skilled warrior. As far as evil goes, he is at pretty standard levels for a hunter.

The Clone Wars fans see him work for innocent farmers against pirates, and he also was part of the group when they helped Ventress get Quinlan Vos back. But, fans also see him hunting Clovis and killing Padmé’s aide for Sidious. Embo does some morally questionable and some straight-up evil stuff, but he is just following the credits and does do some good; he even retired from the profession to become a farmer, which helps make him less evil than other hunters.

7 Fennec Shand

One of the newest bounty hunters to become a fan favorite amongst the Star Wars fandom is the incredibly kick-ass Fennec Shand, a bounty hunter, mercenary, and Master assassin, who could move up the rankings of evil if more content is released surrounding her pre-Book Of Boba Fett life.

Fennec has gotten shown to hold virtues of gratitude close and is someone who somewhat appreciates loyalty, as demonstrated through her time with Boba. On the other side of the coin, she spent a lot of time as a hired killer, a terrific one at that, and while fans absolutely adore the character for that, it hardly showcases the good nature of Shand.

6 Jango Fett

Jango Fett uses his blaster in Attack of the Clones

Jango Fett is one of the best secondary villains of the Skywalker saga, thanks to his fighting abilities and badassery, but despite this, it is hard to label him pure evil, especially when taking an objective look at his profession.

Known as the greatest bounty hunter of his time, Jango was capable of getting any job done however he saw fit. He was also an honorable man, though, with the likes of Honda Ohnaka championing this aspect of the former foundling. This honor and the fact that fans do not see him perform too many evil acts in his relatively limited canon appearances stop him from reaching the deplorable levels of other hunters.

5 Black Krrsantan

Star-Wars comics

A character with one of the most badass designs in all of Star Wars bounty hunter history and who found fame in the extended canon, Krrsantan is a colossus of a Wookie, and a gladiator turned bounty hunter, brought into the mainstream by the Book Of Boba Fett.

Often the evilness of bounty hunters can be attributed to their employers and who they work for/what they do without qualms, such as Krrsantan (and others) working directly for Vader and the Hutts. Krrsantan’s willingness to betray people (Aphra) with whom he outwardly formed a partnership or friendship does not paint him in the best of moral lights either. He is unquestionably a powerful and violent individual, dangerous to anyone who crosses him. Still, in terms of him being truly villainous and evil, he is arguably no more so than any other ruthless bounty hunter. In fact, his helping Boba against the Pykes may point to a level of goodness – for lack of a better word – that others do not have.

4 Bossk

Bossk growls at an Imperial in The Empire Strikes Back.

There is a sort of built-in evilness in the reputation of Trandoshans, given their propensity for hunting innocents, especially Wookiees, who are, for the most part, a beloved Star Wars species. So, Bossk is already at a bit of a disadvantage in that regard.

Bossk does not exactly do much to rid himself of this perception, though. While he does hve some honor, known for keeping his word, a virtue void in many others in his profession, this is canceled out by his cruelty, shown best through his skinning of victims. The snarling, intimidating hunter was highly valued during the time of the Empire especially, and while he or none of his kind view what they do as ‘evil,’ fans can observe Bossk and see little internal goodness.

3 Boba Fett

Boba Fett in The Book of Boba Fett

Boba Fett has been one of Star Wars’ most iconic villains and a fan favorite bounty hunter for over 40 years now and, in the canon, has gotten given a revitalization as less of a villain and more of a crime lord/anti-hero.

That is specifically talking about his post-Sarlacc Pit Fett, though. Before that point, Fett worked for the Empire and Jabba the Hutt. Even before that, he was a pretty ruthless young bounty hunter, attempting to murder Jedi and taking any bounty with the suitable credits. Even if he, in some weird way, redeems much of his cruelty by being a fair and honorable Daimyo, fans have seen Fett perform more ‘evil’ acts than others. He even openly admits not caring about the innocence or guilt of his prey (from he kept trophies), only the credits. His ruthlessness is legendary and makes him far more on the side of evil than others when looking at his entire life.

2 Aurra Sing

Aurra Sing in Star Wars The Clone Wars

As cunning and as ruthless as they come, what Aurra Sing lacked in moral fiber, she more than made up for with incredible skill and viciousness that led her to become one of the best bounty hunters of the prequel era.

Sing consistently showed zero remorse when it came to killing people, and even qualities that could arguably make her a bit of a better person, such s her loyalty to young Boba, go out the window when she does things like abandoning him to save herself. Sing is a brilliant, if not underutilized, character that fans hope to see more of, and she is utterly despicable in the best way.

1 Cad Bane

Cad Bane appears in The Book of Boba Fett.

Cad Bane may well be the best bounty hunter character in Star Wars, and knowing that his story ends in The Book Of Boba Fett means there are plenty of stories still to tell where this abhorrent Duros could play a factor.

Kidnapping children, assassination attempts, murdering people for the sake of a nice hat, nothing seems ‘too far’ for Bane. He will do seemingly anything for the right money and pull it off with a flair and talent few if any, other bounty hunters possess. Bane may have been a cunning genius, able to outmaneuver any opponent, but he was also a bitter, merciless individual, never really shown to have a modicum of goodness outside of stopping Obi-Wan (posing as Rako Hardeen) from dying, doing so in disgust of Eval’s cowardice.
