The Pixel Watch Will Borrow A Key Apple Watch Styling Feature

The Pixel Watch is lined up for a market release in the fall, and it appears that the band styling options are inspired by the Apple Watch.

The Pixel Watch will finally hit the shelves in the fall, and it appears that Google has taken a leaf out of the Apple Watch’s book when it comes to customization by offering a wide range of band styling options to choose from. The Apple Watch is, without a doubt, one of the most feature-packed smartwatches out there. However, Apple has made sure that it makes a fashion statement, too.

Take for example the Apple Watch Series 7, which starts by letting buyers choose between three case materials – aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium. There are 10 color options on the table, and three types of strap materials (sport, leather, and stainless steel) in various styles to choose from. And then there are the three editions, aside from the luxury strap options from luxury brands like Hermes. In a nutshell, Apple has cracked the code when it comes to the target demographics and addressing the diversity of their fashion taste.

It appears that Google wants to serve the same level of aesthetic diversity with the highly anticipated Pixel Watch that is slated for a release later this year. According to a report from 9to5Google, the company has been experimenting with no less than seven band types for its first smartwatch. Starting with the premium offerings, one of them rocks a steel mesh design that mimics the looks of Apple’s Milanese-style bands. Google’s take on the metal chain strap will be offered in black, gold, and silver to match the respective case colors. A link bracelet made up of rectangular metallic bricks is also said to be in the pipeline.

The smartwatch will also serve the classic looks of a leather band that is a mainstay on exotic timepieces. Then there are fabric and stretch bands inspired by Apple’s Braided Solo Loop. And of course, at the bottom of the pricing table are the silicone-based bands that will be offered in multiple color options. Overall, Pixel Watch buyers will have six options to satiate their smartwatch styling taste, which is not too shabby. Unlike the Apple Watch, Google’s I/O 2022 demonstration suggests that these Pixel Watch bands will slot in via an odd twist and slide mechanism.

Google is yet to detail any of the styling options in an official capacity, and there is always a chance that one – or more – of the band styles might end up on the design team’s chopping board. As for the rest of the package, tight Fitbit integration and a supercharged Google Assistant will greet buyers. Disappointingly, rumors claim that the Pixel Watch will come armed with a 4-year-old chip. While the usual set of fitness-centric capabilities such as heart rate and sleep tracking will be offered on the Pixel Watch, Google hasn’t said anything about other advanced health tricks such as electrocardiogram or blood pressure sensing, both of which are available on Samsung’s smartwatches running the new and improved avatar of Wear OS.
